Why should you visit RejuvenationMD for nonsurgical hair restoration?
Autologous serum hair therapy is a natural, nonsurgical hair loss treatment that restores hair using skin-renewing proteins. This therapy has been safely used for a variety of medical purposes for over a decade.
Hair loss can be devastating for both men and women. Using autologous serum to combat hair loss helps hair become stronger, thicker, and longer. It’s a wonderful preventative treatment that delivers amazing results. It’s so important to get this treatment as soon as you notice your hair beginning to thin, because once hair follicles die, we can’t bring them back to life.
What can be treated with nonsurgical hair restoration?
Autologous serum for hair loss restores your damaged hair follicles and combats hair loss using skin-renewing proteins from the increased concentration of platelets and the compounds that affect them. At RejuvenationMD, we primarily perform hair restoration treatments to restore thinning hair and help prevent future hair loss for both men and women.
Nonsurgical hair restoration is also known to:
- Treat hypertrichosis (excessive hair growth) on the eyebrows and beard
- Restore hair lost from Alopecia Areata (hair loss from the immune system attacking follicles)
- Stimulate your hair follicles to slow the rate of hair loss
- Activate your inactive hair follicles to regrow
- Restore and add thickness to thinning hair
Autologous serum is powerful, natural, and can treat a wide variety of concerns related to rejuvenating and restoring. Beyond hair restoration, this revitalizing complex is known to rejuvenate the skin and heal joints.
How much does nonsurgical hair restoration cost?
At all 3 of our RejuvenationMD medical spa locations in Bothell, Burlington, and Bellingham, we offer autologous serum hair restoration for $1,995/treatment, and we may recommend three treatments 4 to 6 weeks apart, depending on your goals
The cost of your nonsurgical hair restoration will depend on how many sessions you need. Most patients need multiple treatments to achieve their goal results. When you consult with us for your nonsurgical hair restoration treatment, we’ll develop a treatment plan tailored for you.
All new patients at RejuvenationMD receive a $200 credit toward any treatment, which can be used toward autologous serum hair restoration.
How does nonsurgical hair restoration work?
When the autologous serum is injected into your scalp, it increases blood flow to your hair follicles, lengthens the growth phase of your existing hair, and stimulates new hair growth in many patients.
What can’t be treated with nonsurgical hair restoration?
Hair follicles that are already dead cannot be revived with autologous serum. This means as soon as you start to notice thinning, you should start hair restoration treatments to proactively strengthen these weakening hair follicles before they are untreatable without surgery.
When will I see the results of my nonsurgical hair restoration treatment?
You should start to notice your hair becoming fuller and healthier within 4 to 8 months after your initial autologous serum injections, but we’ll most likely develop a treatment plan for you that consists of multiple sessions.
Men usually need more autologous serum treatments for hair loss than women to get results.
How long do nonsurgical hair restoration results last?
Results from autologous serum hair injections usually last about 12 to 18 months; you may enjoy your results even longer, depending on the underlying condition that caused your hair loss.
Many women only need one treatment to get results, followed by yearly maintenance treatments. Men, on the other hand, may need at least 3 treatments to see results before moving to annual treatments to maintain them.
At RejuvenationMD, we will thoroughly assess your thinning hair and get to the root cause of your hair loss to develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs.
What is nonsurgical hair restoration treatment like?
We start by drawing your blood and concentrating it in a centrifuge to separate the enhanced cells with skin-renewing ingredients from the red blood cells. This concentration process takes about 10 minutes.
Once the revitalizing complex is separated from the rest of your blood, we’ll numb your treatment areas with a topical anesthetic to minimize discomfort during your treatment.
Next, we’ll administer the autologous serum into the area of your scalp, eyebrows, or beard, depending on where your hair is thinning.
After the initial injections, we do a microneedling treatment to return your remaining skin-supporting ingredients into the treatment area to enhance the results. The entire treatment takes about 90 minutes.
We’ll send you home with a laser cap, serum, and a specialized shampoo to ensure the injected area heals properly.
Does autologous serum for hair loss actually work?
Many of our patients see worthwhile results from their autologous serum hair restoration treatments, while paying significantly less than they would for hair transplant surgery.
89% of patients on RealSelf rate nonsurgical hair restoration as “worth it.”
The success of autologous serum for hair loss depends on a long list of factors, including but not limited to:
- Gender
- Age
- Genes
- Hormones
- The cause of your hair loss
- The amount of hair you had to begin with
both men and women saw results in increased hair thickness and regrowth and that patients given the treatment showed improvements in hair counts, thickness, and root strength after three months.
If you’re completely bald, you’ll need a surgical hair restoration procedure to try to grow your hair back.
Does nonsurgical hair restoration treatment hurt?
Any discomfort from autologous serum treatments is temporary and should be minimal since we apply numbing cream prior to treatment and use our Zimmer cooling machine that chills the area to help ease pain. The amazing results make this treatment beyond worth the slight, short-term discomfort. We also offer Pro-Nox™ if you need an extra level of comfort.
How do I prepare for a nonsurgical hair restoration treatment?
During your nonsurgical hair restoration consultation, one of our specialists will ask you questions to figure out what caused your hair to thin.
We’ll also look at your scalp and possibly order blood work to check for thyroid issues and vitamin deficiencies. We take these steps so we’re able to develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs.
We’ll also give you special shampoo to use before arriving at our office for your autologous serum hair therapy appointment.
What are the possible side effects of nonsurgical hair restoration?
Autologous serum is a safe and minimally invasive alternative to hair transplant surgery.
- Side effects are minimal, but may include:
- Mild pain, temporary redness on the treated areas
- Temporary pinpoint bleeding on the injected areas
- A headache for up to a day afterward
- Minor swelling for a few days
Serious complications from autologous serum for hair loss are very rare yet can include blocked blood vessels (vascular occlusion), leading to vision loss and possibly stroke.
We follow strict protocols at RejuvenationMD to learn your entire medical history and learn if you’re at risk for vascular occlusion before recommending any type of injection.
Am I a candidate for nonsurgical hair restoration?
Anyone with thinning hair on their scalp, eyebrows, or beard may see improvements in thickness and overall hair health from autologous serum hair restoration.
It takes more sessions for men to see results, but our male patients consider the multiple sessions they had totally worth the results they’ve achieved.
If you are completely bald and your hair follicles are dead, autologous serum cannot regrow your hair. You’ll likely need a surgical hair transplant to see a full head of hair again.
Is there any downtime needed after a nonsurgical hair restoration treatment?
There’s no downtime following autologous serum treatments for hair loss, but you’ll likely have some temporary tenderness. Some patients feel like their hair is shedding at the 2- to 4-week mark after their appointment, but this is just their hair follicles resetting and will naturally resolve on its own within a couple of weeks.
To protect your healing and support the best possible results, we recommend that you:
- Avoid strenuous exercise for the first few days after your treatment
- Steer clear of using any hair products for the first 6 to 8 hours
- Use only pH-balanced shampoo for the first few days
- Do not shower with hot water immediately after your procedure
