Plump lips and minimize fine lines or wrinkles.

RADIESSE® is a thick injectable filler by Merz Aesthetics that is great for restoring volume, reshaping and adding fullness, and smoothing out fine lines. It’s the first FDA-approved calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) portfolio that both adds immediate contouring while stimulating collagen and elastin.

What can be treated with RADIESSE®?

RADIESSE® is FDA-approved for rejuvenating the hands and filling in wrinkles and folds such as the smile lines (nasolabial folds) and marionette lines.

We often use RADIESSE® to enhance the cheeks by injecting it over the cheekbones to lift and restore youthful volume to the face. It can also be used to sculpt the lower half of the face for chin and jawline contouring.

How much does RADIESSE® cost?

At all three of our RejuvenationMD medical spa locations in Bothell, Burlington, and Bellingham, we offer RADIESSE® for $850/syringe.

The cost of your RADIESSE® will depend on how much of the product is used. Most patients need multiple syringes to achieve their goal results. When you consult with us for your RADIESSE® treatment, we’ll develop a treatment plan tailored for you.

All new patients at RejuvenationMD receive a $200 credit toward any treatment, which can be used toward RADIESSE®, and the Merz Xperience+ reward program makes it easy to save on your favorite treatments.

How do RADIESSE® injections work?

Your body’s collagen and elastin production decreases with age, causing wrinkles and sagging. RADIESSE® provides immediate improvement in both volume restoration and the production of these proteins that keep you looking young.

What is RADIESSE® made up of?

Made up of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), a substance found in bones, RADIESSE® is thicker than injectable fillers made up of hyaluronic acid (HA). Thanks to its thickness, it works best when placed directly over bones.

When will I see the results of my RADIESSE® treatment?

You’ll see added volume immediately after your treatment and continue to see improvements over the following weeks as your collagen production increases. As with any other filler or bio-stimulator, though, it takes about 3-5 days for swelling to go down after your RADIESSE® treatment.

How long do RADIESSE® results last?

For many of our patients, RADIESSE® injections last a year or more.

The longevity of your RADIESSE® results depends on the placement of your injections, the amount of product used, and your body’s natural response to the treatment.

What is RADIESSE® treatment like?

RADIESSE® is a quick, routine procedure that usually takes about 15 minutes.

We’ll apply a numbing cream to minimize discomfort before injecting the treatment areas.

You can return home or back to work immediately after your treatment.

Do RADIESSE® injections hurt?

As with any injectable, you may feel slight pain during your RADIESSE® injections depending on your pain tolerance. We use a very fine needle to inject the treatment in very small amounts to minimize discomfort.

What can’t be treated with RADIESSE®?

We don’t recommend using RADIESSE® in the tear troughs because unlike HA fillers, it’s a thick substance that doesn’t work well around thin skinned areas. We typically use HA fillers like Restylane® or JUVÉDERM® to restore volume in the tear troughs.

How do I prepare for a RADIESSE® treatment?

You can prepare for your RADIESSE® treatment by:

  • Not taking blood thinning medications or supplements like ibuprofen or fish oil for one week leading up to your appointment
  • Applying arnica to the areas you plan to have injected to reduce swelling and bruising
  • Telling your doctor all the medications you are currently taking

What are the possible side effects of RADIESSE®?

Possible side effects for RADIESSE® in the face include:

  • Bruising
  • Swelling
  • Redness
  • Pain
  • Itching

Possible side effects for RADIESSE® in the hands include those listed above as well as bumps, loss of sensation, and difficulty performing activities.

Am I a candidate for RADIESSE®?

Anyone with fine lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth is a good fit for RADIESSE®. It’s also a great treatment for people who have lost volume in their cheeks or chin and want to restore a younger looking contour.

Is there any downtime needed after a RADIESSE® treatment?

There is no downtime needed after RADIESSE® injections. It’s a simple, “in and out” procedure, and it’s totally fine to return to your normal routine as soon as you leave the office, but we don’t recommend strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours after your injections.
